Hurrican Irene

Earlier this week Hurrican Irene passed along the east coast of the United States leaving a wake of power outages, floods, and destruction. Millions of people have been left without power and many more along the coast had to be evacuated and an estimated 10,000 commericila airline flights were cancelled. This had been reported as one of the ten most deadly and destructive hurricanes to hit the United Staes since 1980.

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene is a major disaster that has occurred recently. The hurricane left a lot of destruction in the east coast on August 27 and 28. One way it has affected the residents of Virginia and North Carolina is that it has knocked out the power and water. The power was out for about forty hours for thousands of residents. The residents that lived in the greatly affected areas had to endure the power outage because the power company had more difficulty restoring the power in that area. Because of the lack of power, many businesses had been closed, limiting income. However, taxes have been postponed until October 31. Also, there has been territorial damage to the area. The physical damage to the area was not as bad as they expected. Beach erosion reached seven feet only in some areas. However, the roads continue to be closed.

Hurricane Irene was a hurricane that produced damage in 1999 across the east coast,  it was actually the sixth hurricane of the season. The impact of hurricane irene were a lot of people lost their family, and homes causing them to live no where with nothing. The hurricane closed many roads, flooded rivers. Irene caused many deaths and $800 million worth of damaged across the east coast. This hurricane was terrible so many foundations are helping clean up and rebuild everything.

Hurricane Irene :(

Hurricane Irene has been considered one of the worst hurricanes we've had in a long time. It hit several states on the east coast and did alot of damage. It destroyed several cities and homes causing power outages, floodings, injurys, and deaths. Now there are many citizens homeless and without trasportation for awhile. Thankful the Red Cross and Hurricane Irene funding are helping somewhat with the distruction and hopefully rebuilding will happen soon.

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene had devastating effects on the east coast. In some areas, such as Florida and Georgia, it didn't have much effects. But to the states in the north, it did severe damages, such as flooding streets and homes and knocking down trees and cars. These floods can be felt far inland and can be deadly killers; it had affected the valleys in Vermont, upstate New York and areas near the Atlantic Ocean. It also threatened to cause power outages for millions of people on the east coast, because of the high winds and the heavy rains that affect the utility wires. Hurricane Irene not only did damages on the economy, but also to individuals as well; over 65 million people have been affected by it, in cities such as Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York. Public transit systems have gone down, and oil prices may go up if it affects refineries in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, since they make 8% of gasoline and diesel fuel.
