Should We Be Forced to be Good Samaritans?

There should not be a law that makes people obligated to help others in distress or in need. A law that would force us to help someone would be taking away our rights. However, if someone feels the need to assist another person, that person should do it out of the goodness of their heart. If that person chooses not to, they must live with the guilt of not being a helping hand. Usually, people have the right morality and ethics to abet those who need aid. In the end of the day, the individuals who perform the service without being told to do so feel better about themselves. They are able to say to themselves, "Wow, I served a purpose and was useful today!" Thus, having a law that requires community service would not have the same effect as if were voluntary.
