Controversial School Policy: Hats

At Olympian High School, the teachers, staff, and administration work hard to establish good, reasonable policies to maintain order throughout the campus. However, the one rule that I find absolutely ridiculous is the rule that no hats are allowed to be worn on campus, even during breaks, except for OHS hats. For one, it stifles the individuality of students. It is like dictating what students should and should not wear. Hats are like headbands. They are simply headpieces, and are not at all distracting. It's rather hypocritical, to say that no hats are allowed, yet allow one type of hat. Also, hats have beneficial purposes. They can block out the sun and prevent eye and facial skin damage, as well as keep your head warm and block the wind. If I could alter this policy, I would make hats banned in the classroom, but allow appropriate hats to be worn freely outside of the classroom during breaks.
